Eating healthy is tough unless you know how to cook.
The best recipes are ones that do not take a lot of prep time, taste great, and can be cooked in bulk. Luckily, after God created Man, he created Man’s best friend: the BBQ.
Many people think they know how to grill steak. They’re wrong. The basics are always best when it comes to meat, and a good N.Y. Striploin is no exception. If you want to learn how to grill the perfect steak, read on. If you’re more into those girlie cupcake recipes, then this is not for you.
You have been warned.
Here is what you will need:
- 3-5 N.Y. Striploins cut to 1inch thickness (preferably local)
- Sea Salt and Pepper
- 1 garlic clove
- Paper towels
- 1 Gym Boss Interval Timer
How to do it:
- Turn the BBQ on its highest temperature.
- Let steaks sit for 20 minutes in room temperature.
- Pat down both sides of steaks with paper towel. You’ll want those suckers to be dry.
- Cut garlic clove in half and rub each side of the steaks with the inside of the garlic cloves.
- Sprinkle salt and pepper on one side of steaks and let them rest for 2 minutes. Flip the steaks and repeat on the other side.
- Bring steaks out to the BBQ. Hold your hand 2 inches from the grill. If you can’t hold it for longer than 3 seconds without getting burned, then it is the perfect temperature.
- Set Gymboss interval timer for 4 intervals of 2min and 30sec each. This is key.
- Place steaks on grill and immediately start Gymboss timer.
- After 2min and 30sec, the Gymboss will beep. Rotate steaks 90 degrees. This will give some awesome grill marks.
- At the 5min mark, the Gymboss will beep again. This time, flip the steaks over and envy the grill marks. Pictures are optional at this point.
- At the 7min and 30sec mark, the Gymboss will beep again. Rotate the steaks 90 degrees for some more ballin’ grill marks.
- At the 10min mark, your Gymboss will go apeshit and beep like crazy. This means to get your steaks off the grill before they burn.
- Place your steaks on a plate and don’t touch them for 12 minutes. Pictures are optional and this is the best time to brag to people on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram that you know how to BBQ. The reason you want to wait 12 minutes is because if you cut in too soon, the steaks will lose all their juices.
